Charcoal Sketches on Toned Paper

I haven't been painting much that is blog-worthy lately, as life has been a bit on the busy side. However, I still draw when I can. Here are two recent charcoal sketches on Strathmore's new toned paper. Love the paper colors but don't know if I like the surface for charcoal.

  1. Hi Monica, enjoying catching up a little on your work- Both these are quick favorites. I especially like the top one. Her gaze seems focused and intent, and that paper lends a tone not unlike sepia that works so well with her hairstyle, etc to further the feeling of a timeless portrait. Lovely work!
