Have you ever seen the movie Office Space? Milton is my favorite character, and he's cranky, and mumbles, and goes where he's not wanted. Because of him and his love of his red Swingline stapler, Swingline actually came out with a red stapler after the movie debuted. True story. Besides, everything is better in red.
This is a commission for the Milton of South Africa. Not for sale.
I do love painting on my lunch hour once or twice a week. I've found a great empty parking lot where the dappled light is fabulous. The bad thing is that there are many empty parking lots in front of many empty buildings to choose from in the office park. Darned economy.
I love my red Swingline stapler, just like Milton in Office Space. It was given to me -- a geek -- as a gift from an even geekier geek, and I cherish it. I put this on an office envelope on my dashboard on an overcast day. Who says they don't have the time or can't think of what to paint?!
Yay, I am back to painting in my car on my lunch hour. More "auto de plein air!" My new rule is that I can only paint something from life. Therefore, you can expect to see parking lots, office supplies, and other equally exciting things as subjects. Or maybe items like this -- a quick snip on my way from the office to the parking deck, and a lily sacrificed itself for the greater good. I apologize for the glare on the photos. They're still wet.
Since my workshop a couple of weeks ago, I've been fascinated with still life painting and having fun arranging a multitude of doo-dads to paint. I love painting from life, but don't always have the option of plein air painting. These are challenging to paint, but even more challenging to photograph. I apologize for the glare.
