Down in the Holler, Gouache

I'm beginning to like gouache for quick studies, when I only have an hour or so to devote to art. It's very different from oils, but that's not necessarily bad. I've noticed, however, it's difficult to get and keep dark values.  But edges are very easy to control.

This is gouache on watercolor paper, about 5x8", from my imagination.
