Kissing vs Painting Edges

Reading more on painting edges, I found this quote from Richard Schmid, master of edges:
Think about edges the way you would think about kissing someone. How many are the ways -- and what can you impart in the process?  Think of edges as exquisite subtleties, as the means to transmit romance, as ways to make your dabs of paint whisper, or shout, and reach nuances beyond the range of color.

  1. Good grief! He certainly knows what to do with his edges! That looks like a photograph ~
I just looked up his website and his bio is as impressive as his painting.
(I just posted on knowing artists as well as their work, so there's a bit of irony.)
One of his books will be a delightful Christmas present...
    Thank you, dear Monica ~

  2. His books are well worth the money, DJ! I only have one, but I think I know what will be on my Christmas list this year. And he's full of fun quotes like this one, comparing painting edges to kissing, of all things.
